Photographs and stories from Schneider Park, going back to the beginning.

Dozens of people sent photographs and stories from every era of this park: first gloves, TOT ball tears, tournament trophies, teams whose whole roster now has children of its own out there.

Thank you. A ballpark keeps no archive of itself, and without the people who played here there would be nothing to put on this page at all.

The early years

The 1980s and 1990s. The park's first seasons, when most of this was still being built by hand.

This page is nowhere near finished, and it is not supposed to be. If you have a photograph from any year (a team picture, an opening day, a concession-stand crew, a trophy on a tailgate), we would love to have it.

Tell us the year if you remember it, and who is in the picture if you know. Half of what makes an old ball photograph worth anything is somebody being able to say who that is.

We are working from memory and from what people told us, so some of these years and names will be wrong. Tell us and we will fix it.
